Ninja Logs File #001.

Short. Sweet. Guaranteed to make you snort your beverage of current consumption onto your keyboard and monitor. I have been laughing about this for days, literally. A must read.

My aim is awesome!

*laughs more*

Gen, with just the tiniest hint of McShep.

The Anamalia Sequence

Pegasus B, an alternate universe in which, among other things, Jack and Daniel became part of the SGC much later and both joined the Atlantis mission, not SG-1.

This story made me laugh, out loud, from beginning to end. Particularly the second part, told from Jack's POV. So, so, hilarious.

I'm sure you have all seen [livejournal.com profile] fiareynne's Daily Drabbles.

Well, there was a bit of a mixup with the last prompt. Be sure to read the comments, too.

I just found the John/Rodney version of Just Another Day at the Office! Red Silks by [livejournal.com profile] eliade! Not to suggest any connection whatsoever. They are the most basic aliens-made-them-do-it "plots." But the similarities are fun. :)

This morning, I followed [livejournal.com profile] _minxy_'s link to The Slave Trade.

PG. John/Rodney. A highly amusing trip inside Rodney's head. Must read.

Clue by Biblio.

Also in the category of getting a clue, but this is funny, in-character, Jack/Daniel with lots of pissy verbal sparring and hot sex. With the addition of lightbulb metaphor. *snickers*

The Brain is taking a busman's holiday, but will be back newer and shinier in April.

However, just had to rec two things, both falling under the broad category Daniel-Gets-A-Clue.

Pars Pro Toto by [livejournal.com profile] paian. I was reminded of it yesterday and read it again and it was so good the second time around I had to mention it.

Bittersweet and angst-ridden. Beautifully and poetically written, as her work always is, and the sex is hotter than hot.

[livejournal.com profile] k_kijo has produced the missing story! Yay!

Working Out the Kinks

I highly recommend it. For one thing, it is a story that will stick with you. I have remembered it since I read it ages ago. But I have to admit, I had forgotten just how good it was.

The first chapter, with Jack coming to terms with Daniel's problem and Daniel trying to explain it. A great time to be in Jack's head.

Jack, Daniel and the belt - so hot! In fact, everything about that encounter between Daniel and Jack - Jack's reluctance combined with his determination. Daniel's rejection combined with his curiosity and enthusiasm. I don't actually go for this kind of thing - beating and spanking, but the way this scene plays out is just excellent and unique.

The torture scene. Hilarious! The story is a must read, if only for that.

I admit I have always been annoyed that Jack has his revelation in the cell but we never get let in on the answer. But even as a dangling WIP, this is an awesome story.

I asked for crossover EW/Teal'c.

I got it!

Yay!

I was looking for a particular stranded story, but found this instead.

The Drake Equation. Four longish parts.

I am amused at how different writers handle survival situations. I think this writer takes a very realistic approach. Except somehow, their clothes fall to rags very quickly. I have clothes less rugged than BDUs that I have worn several times a week for ten years or more. I realize I'm not hunting and fishing them, but still...

After reading The End by [livejournal.com profile] theemdash, I commented: "I can imagine their first encounter being prounounced 'the only one.' Then the next one, Jack says, 'never again.' And so on."

The thought came to me this morning...

I'm going to do these at random, as they occur to me. I will not announce them. When I have my 50, I will organize them in what I consider to be chronological order and post them as a set. Meanwhile, use the tag to link to the whole group.

844,739 Ways to Eat a Hamburger is an SGA team roadtrip from Colorado to DC, in part via I-40 through Asheville and the research triangle area.

You can see why I must rec it. MiniBio for those who don't see the logic: Native of Charlotte. Former camp counselor in Asheville. UNC grad. Currently resident of DC 'burbs. I have probably driven the I-40 route they take 100 times, and missed the I-85 exit at least twice.

Includes Rodney being teased by a table full of Carolina co-eds. And Sheppard's memories of Asheville are mine, with less emphasis on the pretty girls.

Great Teyla and Ronon fish-out-of-water - completely in character.

Rodney's in character, though I don't totally buy him in this. I suspect he would have found a way to recharge the laptop batteries. And I had no idea that Rodney was supposed to be such a coffee addict. In this story, his fictional consumption rivals Daniel's. Possibly surpasses. Or maybe Daniel just has a bigger bladder.

And though I'm not the Ronon worshipper some people in this fandom can be, I have to agree with the big-haired belle in Memphis - he'll do.

Ironically, I cannot stand Waffle House.

Go. Read. Enjoy.

I read by accident. *hangs head*

This is John/Rodney, or McShep, or whatever the loyalists call this pairing.

I doubt I will ever write it, but it is growing on me. I like Rodney. Unlike our SG-1 super-geniuses, Rodney is at least ostensibly, selfish and cowardly, unashamedly arrogant, and kinda spastic. The arrogance covers a kind of frightened vulnerability and the selfishness and cowardice cover caring and courage, as if those are also weaknesses he needs to hide from the rest of us. It makes Rodney so much fun as a character. To me, Sheppard is kinda blah, but he's good as a foil to Rodney.

Anyway, I was reading Something to Remind You and it's follow-on Something New.

I got there on [livejournal.com profile] _minxy_'s rec, and uncharacteristically for her, she mis-categorized these as BDSM. They aren't. Pure D/S play, with mentions of toys. But Rodney clearly states that he is uninterested in pain, and there is no bondage involved, though you could see the possibilities for future play, if she writes more.

I was Googling myself this morning... Yes, yes. I know. Yes, I am vain enough to do that occasionally. And was tickled, actually, to find myself in a few new places! :)

Then, I found a link to me over at Sid's place.

This is the story.

But this is the thread after the story that generated the hit.

[livejournal.com profile] bertybertle posted A Matter of Perspective today.

I loved it!

Daniel wakes up with an unexpected visitor in his bed, and naked revelations ensue.

Light, fluffy fun

An Echo of Freedom.

I followed [livejournal.com profile] green__grrl's suggestion to this piece.

It is full of rape and Danny-bashing. Not for the faint of heart. An intriguing AU where we see some of the big events in our SG-1 universe played out in very interesting alternate ways.

I don't totally know if I recommend it or not. I spent a ridiculous amount of time reading it when I should have been writing. I was riveted. The writing is excellent, the ideas are fresh, if cruel. I'm trying to do a better job of noting the things of interest that I read, so here is this.

Christmas Kisses

Not any of my usual pairings. But I really enjoy Rodney off balance. And there's a payoff.

I suppose I should really go and see who this Lorne person is. Every other SGA story is about him, and I cannot place him for the life of me.

[livejournal.com profile] notmonkey is doing more Diaries, if you didn't already know!

January 1-January 10. Just go to the next entry on the journal for the next day. You must go to January 10 for the discussion of the nude calendar. And Teal'c with a Playboy. :0

Much fun was had by all, though her Brit accent is showing through much more than I remember it doing in the first round. I wonder if somebody beta'd it for her before. I have no problem with a British accent. But it is just *wrong* for Jack, and not fab for Daniel.

I was supposed to be writing elf!Jack. *hangs head* Won't get a shot at it in the morning, either, as Little Sister has a doctor's appointment at 7:30am. Oh, well. Elf!Jack will be posted prior to Christmas, but December 16 was my goal for another installment of Serial Rediscovery, and I also hoped to tackle [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl's MPREG epic. Plus, I have a snow thing that I have been thinking about for the better part of a year that I thought would be nice to write for midwinter.

Do you suppose there's a glue leak around here somewhere? Clearly I have been sniffing something.

Now, off to draft some wills! With exciting testamentary trusts included! Yay. It's not even Daniel's will. Dang backlogged low priority projects.

Child's Play

Found this by way of [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl's kid!fic recs.

AG33 and I both adore it! It's G, natch, as they are kids, Danny a mere 5 or so. You will enjoy the pranks on Ba'al, the Unas army, the Jerkwad Bozo and how he gets his comeuppance, and hiding under the bed.

By the way, if you have never visited her, [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl does great recs in lots of categories. I suggest you mosey over there the next time you can't figure out what to do with your reading time. :)

Gordian Knot

I stayed up way too late reading it, when I should have been doing something useful, so I'll rec it.

Stranded. Always good. Started out a little Sam-bashy, but made up for it later. OK. Bi-curious Daniel, done fairly well. Cool. Jack in want-him-can't-have-him mode, super awesome! And all the porn was very well and convincingly done, except the end, which was a little fantastical, but hey, nothing wrong with that.

And because I am a slut and was trying to decide what to ask [livejournal.com profile] _minxy_ to give me feedback about, I realized that I had not updated my Stargate page recently, and went and rooted out a couple of things. Still not done, but it is really time for bed.
