I was reading the story. It was a little iffy on the writing, but I was getting some smiles out of the character interactions, so I was like, I can read past this.

Then I found out that Jack's feelings for Daneil had been festering for years.

And I just had to stop right there.

Aha ha ha ha! I just ran across the fic, and I stopped there, too. You were obviously faster off the mark reading recs this morning than I was. :D

ETA: I had earlier stopped short on Jack's gravely voice. Somehow not the same as gravelly ... not even the same part of speech.

I find it interesting, the reports that came back on this - how much people could take before they stopped. Like, apparently I'm good for lack of spell check (or confused spell check) and also for a slip up from third person to first person, but word choice was finally what killed it for me. Though I have to admit, without a rec, I would never have read past the first paragraph.

I have different amounts of tolerance on different days. First paragraph I was also thinking, "Not my Jack and Daniel." The clues to backbutton kept piling up and, frankly, I think I gave up on "festering" because I realized that it was the fic you had backbuttoned out of. Why would I subject myself to more punishment than you would? :D
