brainofck: John (Are you serious)
Just cracked 4800 words this morning.

It's been so long since I posted anything, I'm tempted to post in chapters. On the other hand, I have started to be very annoyed by people who post in chapters. I don't now. It's a me thing. Looks like an attempt to manipulate stats on AO3, is why. Plus, I've gotten well out of the habit of posting WIP, because I'd rather not have a mishap when something doesn't get finished FOREVER.

Meanwhile, I've been encouraged to "buck up and finish" the Sharpe/Aragorn Project.

Am I that much between fandoms that I might actually tackle that next?

It's a strange time in Brain...

Look! I found an icon. A good one for almost-Khan Sherlock, too. Though if anyone notices Khan/Sherlock icons in their journeys around the internet and you want to point me in that direction...

About My Brain

This journal contains slash fiction, rated from G through NC-17. Mostly LOTR RPS, but also some LOTR and crossover FPS. UPDATE: Also, now includes Stargate. Dammit. UPDATE: At which point I feel the need to remind myself that AT LEAST there is not yet any FOOTIE!slash (a la [livejournal.com profile] footballslash. Look. I am holding at least one line...) UPDATE: Dammitdammitdammit. I review my description of my journal and find that I am clearly a Stargate writer now, not LOTR RPS. This makes me sad and somewhat resentful, but that's the truth. And Jack and Daniel are SO pretty together. *sigh*

Please do not hesitate to friend this journal! :) I'll friend you back as soon as I check in, which I do every couple of days. And feedback is very welcome.

Content Warnings and Age Restrictions
Regarding the explicit sexual content of many of these stories, personally, I don't believe in censoring the written word. If you can read and understand and be interested, then I don't mind if you read here.

However, I am also a parent. I know how parents are. If you think your parents would tell you not to read this material, please respect your parents' rules and wishes. There's nothing in this journal good enough to make your parents mad about. Hopefully it'll all still be here when you turn eighteen when your parents stop paying your bills. :p

What People are Saying about [livejournal.com profile] brainofck

"I don't like Spagheti-O's, yet you've made them sexy. Amazing, totally amazing." - [livejournal.com profile] amise

"I was like, out loud, mind you, "What are you DOING?" " - [livejournal.com profile] wyldestarr

"Dude, you posted a link that said Stargate Fic and I clicked, and I had never even seen the show! (And thank you, BTW, for that little OBSESSION! *grin* )" - [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl.

"You read this stuff? And write it?! I can't believe people like this! It's so crude!" - [Name Withheld] - flamer, to remain unidentified

Story Index:
Lord of the Rings Real Person Slash - G to NC-17. Primarily SB/VM, but other pairings.

The Sharpe/Aragorn Project - PG-13 to NC-17. My absolutely favorite crossover ever, ever, ever. (Though Viggo/Trevalyan or however you spell it is really hot, too.) There are interesting pieces of this. Not sure where it's going exactly. And those of you reading Arena will see distinct parallels. There's a lovely honey and yogurt thing that's not finished. Definitely hope to turn this into something more readable some day. Just not this day.

Stargate - Yes. There is Stargate slash. I am more than a little irritated about this. Like I need more perversion in my life. I fully intend to blame [livejournal.com profile] uisgich til my dying day. Though it must be said, I watched about four seasons in one week on DVD. In the end, I couldn't resist DanielJackson.

10 Signs You Are Reading A Story By CK

Huh. Don't know how good a job I did on this. But it amused me while I was packing.

1. Jack and Daniel have wanted each other forever, but they aren't quite meant to be.
2. Beanie's inexperienced, but game, and Viggo's a great teacher. (But that's a third of the stories at [livejournal.com profile] rugbytackle, so maybe not such a good indicator.)
3. Sam is cool, and she's 'shipping with you.
4. Orli is smart and you like him despite the fact that you are a die hard [livejournal.com profile] rugbytackler and he's messing with your OTP.
5. Total inability to stick to OTP. Everybody gets to play. OT3 and OT4? No problem.
6. There is non-con, and the characters' reactions are utterly inappropriate.
7. Aliens made them do it.
8. Everybody talks too much.
9. There's a happy ending. Usually NC-17. Or is that the definition of a happy ending?
10. It's WIP.

The rich, dense autumn light fell like honey over his lover's face and hair. Aragorn didn't know when he had come to associate this man so closely with honey. It was odd, as Boromir had never elicited that thought, and if anything, this man was more ill tempered than even Denethor's son had been.

Then he thought how this rich golden light reminded him of Rivendell, also lost to him now. How the light in Rivendell had gilded those features, peaceful now, and dreaming, drawn out the fire in those eyes, closed now in sleep, limned the hair, longer then. How Aragorn had longed to touch that golden creature in Rivendell, so mortal, but glowing with an almost elven vibrance. How he had known he could not touch. How he had lost so much.

He felt the familiar pang of guilt, thinking of the two men as if they were the same. He betrayed them both that way. And the realization that they would both forgive him with that strange soldier's compassion they shared - the realization only compressed his chest and drew tears from the corners of his eyes.

Richard was a light sleeper, and Aragorn's restless shifting had wakened him from his napping. He looked up with heavy lidded eyes, the reached up to brush away a crystalline droplet with a callused thumb.

"What's this, then?" he murmured, in that strange, foreign tongue. Aragorn just smiled weakly. Richard reached out strong arms and drew Aragorn into a warm embrace, hushing and shushing him, as the hot sun fell on them in the cool afternoon breeze and Aragorn mourned things lost and clung to things found.

Sorry for people seeing this a second time. But I might be going somewhere with this soon, and I have reorganized and actually done a disclaimer.

[livejournal.com profile] uisgich and I started thinking about a Sharpe/Aragorn plot last year. She wrote a little. I wrote more. Because this is a crossover where our Mr. Sharpe travels to Middle Earth, Arena readers are going to see a lot of parallels here. Everything is in very rough form and carries a heavy bad!fic rough draft warning. It needs a big rethink so that it won't be Arena in Middle Earth, and I'm not announcing it anywhere any time soon, but I'll post the pieces open, unless I start coming up with anything that is creative and interesting enough that I feel like people would resent spoilers.

Big warning here is that I am of two minds about how Mr. Sharpe ends up at Minas Tirith. Down one branch, he and Aragorn stay quie a while outside the city. Richard's wounds heal, they try to find a way home for him, and Richard actually gets a fairly good grip on the Common Tongue before being persuaded that he should come to the city regardless of what people think.

Down the other route, Aragorn brings Richard to the city almost immediately.

Both have their plusses and minuses and I really haven't decided which way to go. This piece would be part of a story line where Aragorn brings Richard to the city to look after him.

This thing also really needs to be de-Arena-fied. But I posted it in it's current form, anyway.

The rest of the Project, such as it is.

I think Sharpe would be very uncomfortable with how he might be seen in Minas Tirith, paritcularly by the soldiers there. So I wrote this, as the beginnings of exploring what that might mean. This might be a little too strong, though. In angsty mood tonight. Also weepy.

Anyway, I imagine this somewhat down the road. Obviously, someone's had some language lessons. How long will they be gone? Maybe not long enough for Richard's skills in the Common Tongue to be this advanced...

Another random piece.

And fair warning. Not at all pleased with this. I think it is bad!fic, though not the worst I've ever read. I wrote it and posted it more as an exercise in writing and posting than because I think it's particularly readable. Needs to be extensively rewritten or trashed entirely.

Here's a rough take on Richard's arrival in Middle Earth.

May need to be edited to reflect:

a. Timeframe of the story. I imagine Aragorn is "ranging" for the sake of his sanity, but probably on his way home, and relatively near civilization. Possibly even investigating reports of bold Uruk behavior. But this could also be set after Amon Hen, but before the Paths of the Dead, I suppose *most* logically before arrival at Edoras, though where would we get the lovely penthouse suite for the next scene?

b. If we thought it would be interesting for another person to cross over besides Mr. Sharpe, this would either need to be edited or another part written.

c. Your thoughts about Aragorn.

So, Mr. Sharpe has a very difficult morning in the fog )
