I started off pretty well, then got distracted by the shiney of the Cap/Iron Man big bang. Not that badly, but face it, two big bangs can kill a lot of free time for a woman whose free time consists of MAYBE two hours a day. I also completley lost one weekend day to weird family behavior. On the morning of yesterday, November 30, I still had just under 10k words left to go. Still, I made it all the way to 48,082 words by the end of the day.

The writing was pretty linear, except I kept losing track of my villians. I think they are the biggest problem with the story, as the lack clear motivation. Second biggest problem, I feel happy about the characters I created, but maybe I have too many, because I keep glaring at them thinking there isn't enough for all of them to do.

I know there are things that I want to include that haven't been dealt with. For instance, Bjorn is a born-again goes-to-church sings-in-the-choir kind of guy, and I've shown him reacting to being "a god" against that backdrop, but I haven't really set it up clearly. And Lena has spent her whole life thinking someday people are going to figure out she's crazy and lock her up, and I've shown that impacting them pretty seriously, and I think I need to set that up better.

Also, small things have been left out that need to get back in, like their matching necklaces, and the depth of their romantic attraction. I feel like this should be about the dynamics of Bjorn and Lena's relationship, and I'd like to set them up against some other couples - maybe Thor and Sif, and Cherise and Naomi.

Anyway, I need to get all the files onto one computer, then I might start plunking material into yWriter and see if breaking things down to a more elemental level makes anything clearer. I also need to print the whole thing and read it through. As I was writing this past week I kept going back to check things and finding stuff I had already forgotten about that I really liked! :D Then, I may consider trying to look at what I've built already and still try to apply the snowflake method to it, figuring out the three disasterous decisions and where they need to go.

As I was writing, I kept realizing that I tend to resolve things too quickly and easily, leading to lack of conflict. I fixed that at least twice as I went along, major issues that just went away, like they were never problematic at all. I went back and unfixed a couple of them when I noticed myself doing it. I think as I reread it, I will probably find more of that, which may help clarify what the villains are up to.

In general, I'm very pleased with what I managed to produce. Nearly 50k of original characters and plot that all sort of fits together. I have continued to laugh at myself, since the story revolves around mythological characters and events, making it fanfiction of a sort, but hey, it's a place to start.
