So of late I have read a couple of apocofics and some other scenarios where SG-1 comes to a bloody end. While I actually find the plots and ideas in these stories to be much more what one would expect for a unit like SG-1, rather than their narrow escapes mission after mission, still, I find them very, very depressing. Not reading them anymore.

This being different from stuck off-world stories, which are usually kind of bittersweet to me, because they got stuck off-world, but at least they have each other.

Anyway, blah, blah.

Giveth me linkies. Cause I love post-apocaplyse stuff, really. And haven't read any SG-1 that goes there!

Hmm. The post-apocalypse fics I've read, they still have each other (or some subset). Whether they get stuck on some distant planet, or in an alternate reality, or earth is taken over/destroyed, or whatever, if SG-1 (or J/D) have each other, I'm happy. If someone ends up achingly alone -- ouchies! I've read plenty of fic where it happens, not even in the context of apocalypse -- angsty! (You have read Willamkee, yes?) Even hurts in canon -- Daniel in Moebius, e.g. I'm actually glad all the robots went out together in Double Jeopardy. And I still hurt for clone!Jack.

p.s. Hey, you doing that [livejournal.com profile] stargatefic100? You can be "official" -- and there's a Halloween prompt! Hurry -- 2 J/D slots already taken.

I looked at that thing cockeyed and decided I already feel enough guilt abour my writing. I don't need to be doing something "official." :)

Something about the destruction or conquest of Earth ones just don't go down well for me. I think it just gets too grim. SG-1 ground down under the heel of oppression, even if they are still fighting and resisiting. Very grim. Not my idea of a fun time in fanfic land. :)

I have been eyeing up that 50kinkyways chart. I have enough going on right now, story-wise, but maybe I will mosey in that direction.

You do realize that, come May, I will be taking two months off work? Well, going down to half time for two months, but working from home. I realize that during that time I will be a new mommy again and also be going back to the daily workout grind, but I'm looking forward to that time as being as close to a writing utopia as I'm going to get.

Hmm. Earth is just another planet for me, in the SG-1 universe -- it's all about the people.

I forgot to see whether the SG100 challenge had a time limit on it. That's the scariest thing. I signed up for my first -- [livejournal.com profile] zombieficathon. None of the options in my assignment was for a fandom I had a zombie bunny for, so I'll have to suck it up and make it happen. Naturally I will put it off until last minute. :-)

Re: kinkyways, shocking as it may be to hear, I'm a little toy-porned out with the several kink/smut challenges going on right now. Frankly, I'm skipping over 90% of them in my flist. Of course if you were writing, I would read!

And, um, giving birth, night feedings, SB and Husband caring, working half time AND writing?! *boggles* Honestly, if you disappear off the face of LJ for months around the birth, I wouldn't blame you. But if you do get to write... awesome!
