I was thining today, considering all the McCaffery fans out there, what if the prompt spawns a mini-genre of Jack/Daniel dragonrdier porn? Not that such a thing would be a BAD thing, or anything! :D
I am optimistic that (aside from practically obligatory dragon-mating-flight!porn) we will go quite different directions! In looking something Pern-related up for my son (!) a few months ago, I ran across some stuff on the interwebs that I had never really thought about before and my brain apparently feels the need to work it out in porn, so... If you are addressing the same topic in your piece, we will need to meet IRL, as we are obviously twins separated at birth!
I pretty much knew we ought to meet once you wrote the hydropunk extravaganza, actually. :)
I did some research to refresh my memory, too, and I found some of the power dynamics and gender expectations of dragon color/rider personality very interesting. They were certainly not something I considered *at all* when I was actually reading the Pern books ages ago, as your standard oblivious teen.

The only problem with the promptathon (!) is that it's giving me an excuse not to work on any of my other J/D fics for the moment, including the one inspired by one of your stories. Which I will surely get done this summer, or be obliged to bury myself in heaps of regret and hot Abydonian sand.
