Writing along

I crossed the 25k boundary on my fairy tale this morning. Even better news, it is winding down to a natural conclusion.
I had set myself a deadline to start the wing!fic by Feb 16, and when I could not start on that day, I thought I would ditch the idea. Plus, I had been backing off my exercising to write in order to meet the deadline to produce two fics, and that was against what I'm trying to do - balance writing and exercising so I can have BOTH.
So I told myself, just one, and worked out yesterday and today and yet, here I am, probably really done with the draft tomorrow morning and ready to launch on wing!fic Sunday.
Anyway, my thoughts on this now are either it will be done, and I can submit a draft on March 31, or it won't be done, and I can post a complete, 25k-ish fic sometime in April becuase it is done. Either way, fic is produced. It's all good. In some ways, NOT participating in Stargate Summer has its own appeal, because then I can post on my schedule, not theirs. :) Still - illustrated wing!fic has a lot of appeal, yes?
I still think the fairy tale is going to end up being close to 30K, becuase at 25k it is not quite done - probably 1000 to 2000 words left - and I need to go back in the next draft and do several things: I need to crazy Daniel up a little. That started strong, but then I didn't carry it though. I need to illustrate Jack falling for Daniel more clearly. Then there are just some missing scenes that need to be filled in, but I'm too lazy to do it because they are not really plot critical and they can wait until the next writing stage at this point. Anyway, by the time I do those things, I would expect to be adding yet another 1500-4000 words, depending on how it goes. So. The 30k ballpark.
In other news, I put Adjustments up over at AO3 this week. Holy crap, that was a huge piece. Of course, I didn't write it all in one sitting, but it was about 32k when all was said and done.
