I'm always behind the curve. I found Stargate, just as all my little online friends were moving on, finishing up in LOTR, and moving on to Supernatural.
Alas, the brother-on-brother component of Supernatural means it will probably never work for me. Faramir/Boromir never flew, either. It's not the incest component. Lord knows, I could read Merry/Pippin/Frodo all day, back in my days lurking around the Library of Moria. It's the sibling part.
I just can't imagine thinking of my brother in a sexual way, or finding him sexy, or wanting to have sex with him. Not in an ew! way. Just more in a huh? way.
Which is where Sam finds himself in the hilariously, pee yourself funny, The Incestuous Courtship of the Antichrist's Bride.
If you are familiar with Supernatural at all, if you like the vibe of the show, this piece is a must read. A little bit spoof of last season's plot line, a little bit interesting idea of how the Antichrist plot *could* pan out, a whole lot of completely whacked out angels and demons, and yes, the Antichrist accidentally takes his brother as his consort. Throw in the fandom meta that bubbles through the entire piece and really, this is a masterwork of fanfic. I can't recommend it highly enough. Just be sure you start it on a Saturday morning when you have the day off, no on a Thursday morning before work...

Date: 2009-06-12 01:43 am (UTC)I have full-on incest megasquick in RL, but it doesn't bother me in fiction at all. (I started, really, with the twincest in The Boondocks Saints.) Maybe because they are played by unrelated actors? Because I would never do Rodney/Jeannie, and hell no on David/Kate Hewlett.

Date: 2009-06-12 09:56 am (UTC)I actually find that conceptually, same sex incest in the same generation is surprisingly undisturbing. Very little ick factor for me at all. I can even imagine on a practical level how stuff could happen. Two young teenagers learn about their exciting parts, nearest hand/mouth is a close relative, who do you trust more? It's just that it seems so implausible to me on an emotional level. You are already in such an intimate relationship with your siblings, the idea that it would become some sort of romantic love is just odd to me.
But yeah, the squick factor on straight incest is way off the charts. So Rodney/Jeannie or DH/KH would be right out. And anything cross-generational, of course, because the violation of trust there is just *massive* and there is no way to romanticize that for me.

Date: 2009-06-12 02:42 pm (UTC)Yeah, I could see that. F/B to a large extent could be like that too, I suppose.

Date: 2009-06-12 03:19 pm (UTC)F/B--I dunno. They had a lot more social opportunities around them. It doesn't really squick me, because I can see the little world of grief they could build around themselves with their mother's death and father's madness. But I haven't done a lot of seeking out F/B and getting heavily into it because to me it doesn't seem as necessary that they turn to each other. And I like A/B. ;-)
