Blue Moon Awards
Apr. 12th, 2008 04:26 amHunt and Peck has been nominated for a Blue Moon Award, and though I'm sure the fact makes her quite smug pleased, not by
zats_clear. Thank you kind nominating person! And it never fails to amaze me how much love this story gets. I don't hate this story, or anything. Just... *is confused*
One of those things about writing - you can't always tell what is going to be the thing people are going to love. There have been things I've written that have mattered much more to me that I thought were much better that have gotten very little love. Then there are other things that I have written as throw away pieces that have just blown people away. Writing as a hobby. A continuing journey of discovery.
Nominations are still open, so if you are the type of person who does the nominating thing and have favorite pieces, mosey on over there and check them out.

Date: 2008-04-12 11:53 am (UTC)I know what you mean about stories and feedback. For example, people adore "Moonlight." I adore it too and I had a lot of fun writing it, but there are a couple of things that don't make sense to me about the story and I don't think it's my best work. I liked the scene setting and I have a true weak kneed weakness for cabin fic, and I think that showed, but I think it's not very likely that Jack would have sex when there were other people from the team in the house. So i have always been a bit puzzled by the response to that story. Gratified, happy, flattered, delighted I could please people, but I don't think it's my best work.
I loved Hunt and Peck because of the way you dealt so cleverly with the trope of alien sex slave undercover.... the excuse Jack had for touching him, the snark, and the way the ending has this delicious sense of more yet to come. It's a story that lingers. It just works. It's not ordinary, and yet it's extremely IC.
Thanks for all the thinky, and thanks for the wonderful fic.
This particular contest is new to me; I'll check it out. I have never put fic contests on my front burner in any fandom for a lot of reasons but I'm happy to check it out... *cheers*
