He sat up, blinking in the bright darkness, reorienting himself after the nightmare.

He was sleeping like crap. It would be nice if his biological clock would reorient itself and quit switching day for night. He wasn't holding his breath, though. He might as well get used to the fact that he was now a creature of the night. He rubbed his eyes and swung his legs off the side of the bed.

He shuffled out to the kitchen, switching on lights as he went so that he could pretend he was still human and still needed them. The sudden brightness didn't hurt like it should, his dark-adapted eyes adjusting differently than human eyes, he supposed. The night vision must work differently.

He opened the fridge. Which was filled with bottles. He really, really wanted a beer. But he had learned last week that vampires do not metabolize alcohol well. At all.

Blood it was, then!

As he carried the bowl of pigs blood left over from dinner to the table, he wondered if it was possible to be a hypoglycemic vampire. He was always hungry.

He skipped the spoon entirely and dipped his fingers into the gelatinous substance. It was disgusting, but it was the middle of the night and who was going to know but him and it just felt right that if he couldn't bite and suck...

Morosely, he sucked his own fingers, cleaning the cold blood away digit by digit. He pretended it tasted like bacon.

She clutched her ticket in her damp palm and walked gingerly onto the porch, mindful of missing planks and exposed nails. Her hand reached out of its own accord and pushed the partially open door to CK's Brain. There was a long soulful creak, a soft whoosh of dusty air and then...only the light-sucking darkness within. Taking a breath as though it may be her last, she girded her loins (hey, it's a CK story, there's gotta be loins in there somewhere) and stepped into the orifice.

The door slammed shut behind her and the darkness was complete. The silence was broken by unearthly screams...oh wait, that's me ::ahem:: The darkness melted away in the sudden glow of enormous lava lamps placed strategically in front of fun house mirrors. The smell of bacon was in the air and moans of unknown cause were coming from behind the beaded entrance to the next room. She frantically rattled the door handle, but it was too late. She had paid for this ride and it looked like she was in it for the duration. She slid down the doorway and whimpered pathetically.

send in the clowns, oh sweet jesus send in the clowns
