I'm a total sucker for AU's, and have already enjoyed your Double Lotus (am rubbish at feedback, so "Thanks for that"), and I'd like to read beyond Chapter 3 of Arena. May I?
Cheers and thanks again (either way),
Mistry

To open or not to open

Arena is closed because it is utterly raw material. Like, I wrote it and never read it again. I am working to fill in the timeline of hte first five years, then I plan to do a big edit, and start posting it properly, probably at [livejournal.com profile] rugbytackle. If you can hold out for that, it'll be a better read.

However, if you really are anxious to read RIGHT NOW, I'll put you on the list of people who can see the posts. Let me know. If you want to do that, remember 1)they are all rough drafts, so no pointing and laughing, and you have to promise not to think less of me; 2) by reading the +5 stuff, you are gonna get HUGE, GIGANTIC spoilers; and 3) Laurel is closed because it's just flat not done. Also, the worst of the worst is Flesh and Iron, which will be then very next thing you would probably read.

It's your call. :p

Kind regards,
CK

Sorry it took me so long to reply (have visitors, which eats into online time) - which is probably a sign that I should wait .... but I don't want to!
I will not point fingers, giggle, snark, nor think less of you. Up to you. I don't want to rob you of an appreciative "first time" reader response either :)

I've added you to the reading group. I think I will post notices locked down to you folks when I have finished the rough of a new chapter. Though that has yet to happen since I created this journal, as I have been staring at Laurel for weeks now. Grrrrr

It's a weird thing. On the one hand, I'm thrilled. On the other hand, I'm mortified. Ah, well. All us writers are a bunch feedback whores, and I'm blaming it on that. :) Hope you like them.

Longer stories

Thank you! So glad you like it! More is coming, though not as fast as the other chapters. We are now all at the mercy of [cue sinister music] my brain. *snickers* That's the hazard, you know, of getting hooked on a long WIP while it's still a WIP. You get to suffer from the writer's block and RL delays just like the rest of us! :)

If you're reading the longer stories now, have you tried, Prophecy, Destiny and Design (http://www.chimerafic.com/rps.htm#prophecy) by [livejournal.com profile] pecos? It's awesome. And she's also working on the sequel now.

If you check my info page, I did an eight-part thing called Double Lotus. Totally different from this, though. And nowhere near as long.

You should also check out The Orange Grove (http://www.digitalcandy.net/~glorious/oranges/), by [livejournal.com profile] cinzia and Gloria. Cinzia also has a long thing called "A Long Journey" posted on www.rugbytackling.com (http://www.rugbytackling.com).

I'm full of recs! I could go on and on. :) Ping me if I can help...

You are so mysterious!

How did you find me, by the way? :)
From: [identity profile] rsharpe.livejournal.com
I just discovered this wonderful story and am up-to-date but I would be thrilled to be allowed to read this (and any others you're working on) as you get them ready.

I promise not to do anything other than read for my own enjoyment.

Thanks!

I cannot get over when people ask me that! I'm always so bouncy!happy from it! I'll gladly add you to the early readers group.

However... Nobody's getting sneak peeks anymore. The reason I was letting people do it before was because I was so hopelessly far from making anything but the first three parts public. But I am now putting the sections out almost as fast as they are being written - no real delay. Because of that, I can't stand to cringe for 24 hours while even a select few are reading my weird writing twitches and indecision and notes to myself and typos, etc.

If I create another hopeless situation, I'll announce to the early readers group, and start opening them again with a lock down to those people. But for the moment, I hope not to inflict rough drafts on anyone. :)

Just so you know...

I am currently watching the History Channel series, Ancient Inventions. One episode was about medicine in Imperial Rome, including Galen's work on gladiators. The one I'm watching right now is about Caligula's pleasure ships.

This is all making me long for Arena even more than I was before.

*sigh*
