Words from the legal profession
Jan. 4th, 2007 10:18 pmI was looking up the fee for service via publication, today, in my little handout from Fairfax Circuit and I note that there is a fee for filing an "Ejectment."
Ejectment?
*snickers*
Further on in the handout, I found "Service of Declaration in Ejectment on any person, firm or corporation."
Declaration in Ejectment.
*snickers more*
Yesterday, CJ was commenting that she was all caught up on her work and was therefore going to do something extraneous.
At the moment we have an equitable distribution case coming to trial on Jan 9, discovery closing in another major case on Jan 21, which means the deadline for service of subpoenas is TOMORROW, and that equitable distribution coming up on Feb 21, which means I need to get the asset and debt spreadsheets done PRONTO - oh, probably two days' work right there. Boss going on vacation third week of this month, client in Peru coming soon with large knife to kill me because I cannot get his freakin' papers filed with the embassy, THREE bankruptcies to data enter, to the tune of, oh, 6 to 8 hours each. I can't remember when I got a full set of client billing out. I'm sure there are a few estate planning clients languishing around. Not to MENTION the money trail project in the disputed probate case. And when I finish that, there's probably, oh, 20 or 30 hours of work I could do on the website. And that weird Maryland name change. And the Loudoun deed. Little stuff.
*pauses to reel*
That might be it.
The fantasy of a clear desk is something close to orgasmic.
There's inspiration there somewhere.
