I have been watching key Stargate episodes that I had not seen previously. And re-watching some fun ones.

Woe, I have seen the episodes that make Daniel's birthday July 5, 1965. Dammit. I know, I know, you all tried to tell me, but it's easier to live in my own little world when I haven't made the connection all on my own. His proper birthday is the day before mine. Dammit.

The upside of this is that based on 1969, I am now convinced that the "Daniel is merely a linguist argument" is clearly wrong. Daniel says, "I speak 23 languages. Pick one." Clearly he is saying that he can speak that many languages, and he isn't setting limits on which ones they should pick.

Also, saw all of Moebius. Now need to and review Grains of Sand and see if it matches up with a post-revolution stuck-back-in-time scenario.

At the moment, I think that's all. And since I try to write Season 3-4 Jack and Daniel, I am optimistic that once I see the Season 8 stuff, I won't have any more remorse.

EDIT: In my review of my stuff, I was re-reading this and I forgot who I was referring to in the second person! *snickers*

*quckie review* Grains of Sand was fine, though your Jack2 was a LOT more mature and likable. ;-) Though I think the executions were two years before SG-1 deux showed up?

No, no! Please don't be! :) Linguistics was one of my favorite 10's in undergrad! What I meant was, I saw an argument made that since Daniel's got a PhD in linguistics, he was merely padding his resume by saying he "spoke" 23 languages. This person pointed out that linguists manipulate language without really *speaking* the various languages they study and discuss. This flies in the face of Daniel-the-genius-human-translation-device - which is, in fact, how the scriptwriters tend to use him.

Oh no, I wasn't offended at you, but whoever implied linguists are just polyglots. They have on occasion written him with actual Linguistic talents thankfully and he comes off as an Historical/Comparative Linguist (a field which ROCKS BTW and one of my 3 faves*) who happens to actually speak the languages.

Also, him being a linguist is what makes me giggle like mad when a few writers, when doing their Innocent!Daniel write him as never/rarely swearing. Dude, he's a linguist. Fuck is like our favorite word.

To me, his b-day will ALWAYS be July 8. :) Dunno where they got July 5. He even says July 8 in an ep (which for the life of me I can't REMEMBER right now, but he DOES say it).

And I go all gooey when he uses his linguistic talents. That's why I get so frustrated when people always call him just an archaeologist or even worse a DOCTOR in their fics when describing him. I'm like, he's not a DOCTOR, he has doctorates! You can't call him by his profession since it's NOT his profession. Janet Frasier was a Doctor. Carolyn Lam is a Doctor. Daniel is a linguist, archaeologist, AND anthropologist who has doctorates. Sam Carter is a physicist who has a doctorate as well. They're NOT doctors themselves. It's a title, NOT a profession. Sorry for the rant, it just REALLY bugs me. On the other hand I go all gooey when people refer to him as a linguist in fic.

And my favorite is when he speaks Unas. *guh*

I did three ling classes in college for my math requirement and I have a BA in English. Words and language make me go all gooey. Especially if people write them properly and make Daniel talk dirty or swear. Cuz it's really really fucking HOT. :)

He says the day of his birthday a couple of eps after 1969 where he gives the year. Janet is checking him for a head injury. Maybe in Legacy?

It could very well have been Legacy. Or I thought they did it in Solitudes when he was being checked out too. I'm sure I could find it on Wikipedia or look through scripts. Heh. So is Michael's b-day the day before yours or Daniel's? I'm so confused. LOL.

Michael's. It's the fault of my RPS background. I tend to associate character's with the actors that play them. For a long time I had not seen the episodes where Daniel reveals his canon age - or possibly I just failed to note. So I naturally thought of him as the same age as MS, and casually gave him the same birthday.

That should be Daniel's birthday, dang it. *scowls*

LOL well I love that it's in real life Michael Weatherly's b-day. Works out lovely for Emerald City (the Tony/Daniel crossover that nilahasi wrote for me) :) and my obsession with the Tony/Daniel crossover pairing :)

Yup. That's me. Coincidentally, I believe it is the next day in Serial Rediscovery, as well. I need more time to meet my end of the year writing goals.

Also Legacy was nearly a full year after 1969 (Different seasons) so I think his b-day was mentioned a lot earlier. I'm determined to find it now.

And yes I noticed that Daniel is about 5 years older than MS.
