Trust Daniel to do the research. And right now he was waving a well-thumbed copy of What to Expect the First Year at Jack from across the kitchen island.

"See, it's right here under 'Breastfeeding Myths.' See. 'Myth: You can't breastfeed if you have small breasts...'"

Jack was feeling clammy and ill. He was rummaging through the fridge looking for some sort of quick protein. He grabbed a slice of American cheese and unwrapped it. When he bit it, he looked as he always did, at the imprint of his teeth.

"Daniel," he said as he chewed the rubbery cheese, "this isn't really the time."

"'Reality: In no way does outward appearance affect the productino of milk or a mother's abilitly to dispense it. Breasts and nipples of all shapes and sizes can satisfy a hungry baby. Inverted nipples that don't become erect when stimulated may need some advance preparation...'"

"Daniel! Not the time!" he barked in his best drill sergeant's voice, wondering how many drill sergeants had contemplated killing an annoying life partner over breakfast while fending off morning sickness.

The way I see it, a guy like Jack, he wouldn't throw the crockery. If he got that hormonal, Daniel would *really* be running. :p

Jack's such a natural Mommy. What with the Special Ops experience and whatnot...

If that is something you would like, then thank [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl because thanks to her I think it's something you're about to get. Unless what you get is a proper story instead of drabbles. :)

I'll leave it to the voice of experience. :-)

It was an incredibly boring afternoon.

Cool! :) MPreg works much better in the sci fi setting.

And you know what they say - write what you know. Though, actually, it's all [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl's fault. She kept prodding me. :D

Well, you know. He might no longer keep personal firearms around the house, but there are *knives* in that kitchen...

Even enraged there's some teeny, tiny part of him that won't let him kill Daniel, right? Maybe? That knows that crockery against the wall instead of his skull will make him shut up and go away?

"Adequate," though... Men have died for less.

Though, you are probably right. Jack wouldn't *really* kill Daniel, especially once he was the father of his child. But think of how he could use a knife as a weapon of terror.

Yes, yes!!! This and the other short story you wrote totally kick ass. And here I thought I was the only one plotting to get Jack pregnant. *giggles* Though in my mind, he would look lovely with twins. *giggles*

NONONONO I WILL NOT LIKE MPREG! But oh this is too hilarious. *snerk*

I think you mean producing and ability though. *g*

M-preg doesn't *have* to be evil.

Sorry about the typos. A lot of the "What I am thinking"s are written on the fly and never checked. Bad CK!

I don't think there is anything inherently *wrong* with m-preg. I think that usually the problem is that people don't write it well *at all.* They turn it into some sort of sappy, goopy, unrealistic thing and feminize the male characters in a way that is completely insulting both to the characters and to pregnant women.

I think if you take the experience of pregnancy, and then map it onto a male character, it should be a good story.

What I like about the sci-fi context is that it gives you the opportunity to add some kind of "realism," whatever that means. Some sort of reason a guy is pregnant. Rather than Viggo getting Orli preggers and you're like, what the hell?!

Now wedding!fic? I don't know if there's any way to salvage that. :D

I agree with you about the reasons I probably DON'T like it. People can't seem to write it well without making it over the top and sappy and so fucking unrealistic. I think you will do a MUCH better job. And considering you just went through another pregnancy the experience is pretty fresh in your mind and you should be able to translate that well. So I am looking forwards to your interpretation. Heh.

Wedding!fic squicks me on a whole nother level. Very hard to find one that's done well without once again making it overly the top and sappy. At least for the guys. Heh.

*hugs*
