I have possibly found my new fandom.
I'm sorry, but Freeman and Cumberbatch are hot together. I feel like they have to be doing it on purpose - possibly under direction. I totally agree with
green_grrl that Sherlock is total fanfiction turned into a screenplay, but OH MY GOD the last part of The Great Game, the look on Sherlock's face when they are finally alone and he's ripping that bomb off him (and then they just stand around next to it, like the other bombs didn't destroy entire levels of buildings)... Not to mention I love how Watson's is so cool under pressure, and yet you see the whites of his eyes, and when the pressure's off his legs kind of go out from under him. I love Freeman as Watson even more than I love Cumberbatch (OMG that ridiculous screen name) as Holmes.
Anyway. Alas for me as a writer, I will never write in this fandom. I know I can't think a crime fic through for shit, and something worthy of Holmes would be completely beyond me, but this could be were my reading goes, and pretty soon, now that my favorite porn librarian is on it.

Date: 2012-01-03 04:08 pm (UTC)Sorry, but I've never really been into LOTR. Don't get me wrong, I loved the films but that was as far as it went.
So, I'm here to encourage you! You're not old. You're not past it. And you are certainly a brilliant writer so please get that muse working and those plot bunnies hopping and keep going.

Date: 2012-01-03 04:18 pm (UTC)I don't know when I will have a radical AU like THOSE lined up again. The best I can do is offer Bright, Rich, Sweet if you have not read it and don't mind a little vampire kink/blood play. The other day werewolf Daniel tickled my brain a little, but that was it.

Date: 2012-01-03 08:02 pm (UTC)I do admit that Martin Freeman's acting is most excellent and he does bring Watson to life far more than many other actors who have played him....my ideal combination would be him and the late, great, magnificent Jeremy Brett together in the era that Conan Doyle wrote them in...now that to me would be utter bliss...
I weep that J/D is not inspiring as many writers any more.....I rail against the fact that I have no talent at all and can see so much in them still with every re-run....the characters fill me with excitement every time I see them, but I can do nothing about it to bring them to fresh stories on paper due to my lack of writing ability....I'm a great fan of AU's so any that come from you will be loved, cherished and enjoyed with the same gusto that I had when I first hit the button on my, then new, fandom story!...
\o/ \o/ \o/ <---- to keep you going if you do write more!!...

Date: 2012-01-04 07:22 am (UTC)This is one of those fandoms that's intimidating by how smart the writers are. But there is crackly good fun, too, and I know you're so good at that. *dangles cookies* ;-)

Date: 2012-01-05 05:19 pm (UTC)I have "tried on" several fandoms; White Collar, Burn Notice, Star Trek reboot, but nothing has hitted me like Sherlock since LOTR and Stargate.
Mostly I think it has to do with chemistry between the leads, and second the "feel" ie. costumes, plot, minor characters etc.
This one has everything I love =)
If writing bug bites you on it, I'm there waving pom-poms all the way =D

Date: 2012-01-29 02:59 pm (UTC)But wow, has it caught fandom's attention. Plus there are some BNFs from past fandoms I know writing for it, so you will find tons of great stuff.
I wish I liked it more, honestly.
I started reading the huge backlog of all kinds of Holmes/Watson after watching the first Downey and Law movie, and omg there's SO MUCH FIC of all kinds.
if you like period stuff be sure to read katieforsythe on LJ. Her bookverse stuff is by far the best stuff I found.
But you won't lack for reading material if you get into this fandom. it's already huge.
I'm still hugely enjoying Due South; that's my current reading fandom. I read some White Collar, but none of the fan writers is quite writing the characters in my head, so I've pretty much quit reading the fanfic but I like the show. Also the extreme hate for one of the female characters kind of made me back button out of the fandom entirely. But the show is pretty!
Burn Notice is getting repetitive now. Maybe I'll catch up on it later.
I am trying to make time to get into Leverage again -- I understand the new eps are pretty good. I really liked the fic for that show but I felt incomplete reading the fic without trying to keep up with the shows, and for a while there I was kind of meh about the shows. But that's in the back of my mind.
I know how it is when you realize you're done writing in a fandom, though. Shiver!!!
I am cheering for you on the new homeless fic. That's totally my favorite kind of thing, lol.
