Chaka/Daniel - my thoughts on why this pairing works

[livejournal.com profile] sdlucky reminded me of Chaka yesterday.

She says she reads the story often and recs it to her friends, who are all squicked and disturbed, but, like herself, strangely bemused by the allure of the pairing.

So I was thinking...

In this story, anyway, Chaka is all about love! Maybe that's why it is not *just* disturbing. He's a sentient being. He wants to protect Daniel. He thinks Daniel is beautiful and sexy and attractive, even though he, himself, doesn't quite understand his own attraction, and even though Danel is alien to him. Chack has arrived at the conclusion that Daniel would make a great mate - for life - despite the fact that he isn't quite the kind of mate that all the other Unas males want!

In many ways, on an interpersonal level, Chaka not that different from Jack.

In sum, Chaka/Daniel works because it is so much like Jack/Daniel. *nods in agreement with self*

...It's too early for meta, especially cracktastic meta. Ugh.

I suppose in theory you're right, Daniel/Chaka could work (or Chaka/Daniel for that matter.) I think just because humans beings (in general) have Xenophobia and the idea would cause the squick factor for a number of people.

Then again if a spaceship landed crewed by blue, green or people with cat ears/tails asking for help in repopulating their species with lots and lots of sex (afterall artificial insemination just won't do!) I suspect a *huge* chunk of our population would take up the gauntlet.

*headdesk* I did not need to wake up to this!

But yeah, that is the C/D story "I like" -- though the other C/D story, no way. The characterization of Chaka in this one is so.... sweet. Plus the awesome job Brenda did with both Chaka's voice and Daniel's voice. And Teal'c's. Heh!

In many ways, on an interpersonal level, Chaka not that different from Jack.

Huh. Kill anything that tries to hurt Daniel. Behave in a remarkably possessive manner about him. Let Daniel make all his soft sounds at him. Hump his hole and turn him into a melted pool of pleasure at every opportunity. By gum, I think you have something here!

*snert* There you go! Jack=Chaka! :D

Not to be a prima donna or anything. But I was wondering if you missed the pr0n (http://brainofck.livejournal.com/218652.html)? :p Though woe, I can't see me really finishing by Wednesday. Though probably by Friday.

Hmmmm. And I note here I am being the other me. Oh, well. The hazards of multiple personalities.

I can appreciate your intellectual comparison between Jack and Chaka's motivations but my interspecies squick just up and runs screaming from the room. I did read it tho, and it was marginally less creepy than the one I read about non-con with Chaka (no, I have no idea where it is) and another where Jack had to Alpha up, so to speak, to claim Daniel before the Unas did.

The former story was pretty much the author's deranged rape fantasy gone very very wrong and what's more amusing is that I read a review panning it long before I ever came across the story itself, which I read simply based on the wonderfully-descriptive review. Reading the actual story turned out to be a bit like stopping to wander around the train wreck, poking at severed limbs, rather than just rubbernecking like everyone else. The review I wouldn't mind finding again...
