Son of Endless Sky

I have my feet back under me again, sort of, after the due date snafu.

I should have done this post on Sunday, but here it is, finally!

Not only did I remix, but I also was remixed.

[livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong did an absolutely amazing, fantastic, gorgeous, deep, wonderful remix of Pervasive Local Obsidian. You must rush and read it right now!!!!

Son of Endless Sky (The Bone Needle Remix)

This may be the reason I remix again one day. :D

Isn't this Remix the best challenge ever? Just barely dipping in, I've found stories that are going to be absolute favorites. I am itching to read all of them, but OMG, I'm 33,000 words into Ficathon story, and I have probably 8,000 to go. Aaaaack!!!!

Mega fic beta strategy

*boggles* You realize that is novel length, right? Longer than Arena, too, but about 8000 words...

If you want it beta'd, what you should do is get it finished, then break it into chapters. We can give you a good beta on the first chapter so you can post on schedule, then we can beta the other chapters as fast as possible and you can post them every couple of days til they are done.

That way, you get it done without the usual pitfalls of creating an unfinished WIP, but also your beta's will be able to give you good feedback.

I haven't had a chance to read many remixes. Mainly just yours and mine, but they look juicy and delicious. :)

Yeah, the problem is the first part is where a lot of the missing writing is. I skipped over a lot of the mission to get to the fuck-or-die plot. Heh! I'm hoping to have a good chunk done by Friday so that someone can start reading it. The rest of it is pretty much written (first draft) except for the epilogue.

The remixes are -- *flail* amazing and fabulous! But they are not for me... not yet.

So... Regarding the mission part. What's the chance that you could magic-wand that. Just obliquely reference it and basically not write it? I'm thinking of your sanity, that's all.

I am going to try to magic wand a bunch of it! My next step (yesterday was about getting all the sex scenes -- which is most of the plot -- done) is to read through and pick out all the elements in the back half that need setting up in the front half and writing placeholder slugs to be fleshed out. I may even send it out for beta at that point, just to get the back part looked at!

On a related note, I want your outline of my prompts to be available to readers when I post my ficathon piece. Could you plan to post it, just like you sent it to me, in your journal for me to link? Or, alternatively, could I post it in MY journal for linking? Though I think you should have it in yours so you can get all the comments directly. :D

Er, I'll post it if I can dig it up... Do you have it handy? If it's easy for you to send it to me, great. I can format it and post it on the 11th.

That was really wonderful. :D Thanks so much for the link!
