I haven't seen Skyfall yet, so I've been staying out of it so far. Bluemeridian has been reccing them, though, which is where I'll start after I see the movie.
I've been reading all things Derek/Stiles in Teen Wolf, and my trick in AO3 is to sort by number of kudos. Once I've read the best of the best, back to sorting by newest posting, and again skimming for the ones with high kudos. I still hit the occasional, "Gah! How did so many people kudo THAT!" But for the most part, crowdsourcing the good reads works.
Bond and Q in Skyfall were, for me, similar to Cap and Tony in Avengers. The movie didn't sell it for me, but good fic I can totally buy. I was reading the chick on AO3 with the big why-to-ship-it piece about how totally in love they had to have been in the movie, and I was like, maaaaybe. I'll have to see the movie again with some Q/Bond goggles on to see if I actually agree.
Bluemeridian! Of course! I should think of these things...
Yeah, I was reading Cap and Tony long before the movies, so I was pre-sold and already invested. The Avengers movie was very "pre-slash foundation" for me. I'll see what I think about Bond/Q when I see the movie. I suspect I'll think, "They are both very cute, and bantery soldiers/geeks are such a lovely pairing," but not, "Oh my god, they are so obviously doing it!"
