Oh, very lovely. The first is perfect childhood affront meets a man who loves kids. Love the idea that Daniel was in some rough spots and making chancey decisions: working in a dangerous place, flirting with sexual favors to pay his way through grad school. Love that Jack saved him, in his ways, though arguably it might have been less painful in others.

I like that you take Daniel's time on Abydos and give it that extra bit of perfect that would break Jack too. Love that they are still a little too broken at the end, but at least they are at a mutual understanding. There's a lot of intimacy in the last scene, I think, and the music really does echo the earlier scene very nicely.

Sweet without being saccarine, and the sad notes are solid too, this is lovely, and a lovely half-step off canon, just enough to feel like a might-have-been. Very minor key.
