I need some help with foreign language dialog for Skeletal Remains.

cut for spoilers to my own fic )

Oi. Doing research for porn.

I want the Arabic equivalent of Daddy. "Ab" appears to be "father." I'll use that if I get stuck with it, but I'm wondering if that's what a little kid calls his Daddy, or if there's something more affectionate and less formal, like in English. Anybody know? And if there's anybody out there who could do the Egyptian variant, that would be EVEN MORE AWESOME, like anybody will know but still cool! :D

Hello, all! Here is Part 2. Part 3, and possibly Part 4, will not be posted til the whole thing is done, because there's a couple of thousand words of mission fic to write for Part 4, and I'm scared once I really get into it, it will backwash into things that are needed to set it up in Part 3, and I will have painted myself into a corner.

I'm actually a little chicken to post this Part 2, in case there's upstream stuff that's needed in this section. But I'm pretty sure there's not. Also, since I'm not announcing these yet, I may actually make revisions to Part 2, if needed. If I do that, I'll let you know when I post the next part.

Still, I'm pretty sure this is ready. So here it is! :D

Oh! Also, I started writing this last year on August 22. It is my goal to have it posted, complete, on or before it's first year anniversary.

Stepping away for a couple of days to read, now that AG33 has finished the book. Stranded thing has a name - Skeletal Remains. AG33 was watching some thing on the Science Channel last night while I was reading Harry Potter, and skeletal remains came up. I was like, huh? Oh. Dinosaurs. Anyway, Skeletal Remains is gonna kinda be on hold til I get this book done. See ya later!

OTP

Here's the thing.

We all talk about OTP. Some people fairly loosely. Some people say they have many different OTPs. Cheating bastards.

(I will make allowances for people active in many fandoms. So [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl can have two OTPs if she wants - J/D and V/O! *ducks*

As a reader, J/D is like the juicy steak for dinner. Can't have dinner without it and it's *delicious*.

But give me some J/D/T/S or J/D/S and it's like the best creme brulee. I'll eat it first every time.

So I probably would have said SG-1 as a threesome without Teal'c or a foursome with him is really my favorite set up. There's not a lot of it out there. On a day with a new J/D and new team smut, I always go for the team smut first.

So I'd say I have an OT4, rather than an OTP.

But I've never had any really good solid OT4 plot bunnies.

And here's were we get to the part were I realized that I really do have an OTP after all.

I decided to create a couple of multipartner plot bunnies, just to see if I could pull it off.

I have a real weakness for stranded stories, so I set one up. Of course, Teal'c is a dead duck in stranded stories almost no matter how you slice it, so those by default end up being S/J/D. And I'm writing this S/J/D and I realize as I go along that Jack, despite being able to have a relationship with Sam, is totally Daniel focused, and Daniel has no real interest in Sam at all.

OK. So, it's complicated.

Then, I left the stranded story for a while because I wanted to challenge myself to write a realistic story about how SG-1 might progress toward a group sexual/romantic relationship within canon, on Earth, without the weasel-out of stranding them.

And I'm writing along and I realize that the whole thing is spiraling out of control toward what will be an ending with the Jack/Daniel relationship being the primary component, probably more important to the resolution of the story than the OT4 aspect.

This was not what I intended.

I'm thinking that as writers, maybe our OTPs choose us.

I've been writing a little bit every night in my notebook.

I was working on transcribing some of it this morning, and there's a lot more there than I realized.

It feels very flat. I think it's going to need a fair amount of editing. But it's nice to see some text on the screen. I've been feeling like I was writing nothing...

And I am sad about the stranded fic of doom. It's not every day I kill people off left and right. I will have to return to it and try to get it out too, before the ficathon ends.

Oh! And if you were going to do the ficathon thing, please sign up by today! I want to try to get assignments done by the end of the week. Pretty fair turnout, about half doing assignments and half doing the story pledge thing. I'm so excited! :)

I rewarded myself for being A Very Good Girl with 20 minutes of writing time tonight.

Got a good running start at the stranded thing.

It's funny how sometimes it really helps to just sit down and write something. The ideas gel when you finally decide you're just going to write something.
brainofck: (Spell Check)
I'm thinking about my stranded thing.

Sam is going to get the chemistry between the guys.

But I want to write one of the guys as clueless.

So. Which one is more fun? A Jack who is self-aware and a Daniel who has never quite realized what is going on between them?

Or a Daniel who is trying to hit Jack with a clue-by-four (to steal an expression from CJ) and a Jack who gets it a beat too late?

In the spirit of Adjustments, I'm tempted not to choose, but to write the same story both ways. But it seems dumb not to just make a decision and pick one.

Though this is not the only problem I am having with this story. For one thing, I am seriously debating character death, which I never do.
