For the 2009 J/D Ficathon this year I got [profile] prehistoric_sea, who prompted as follows:

    Two (2) Requirements:
    1. porn
    2. emotional complexity
    Optional Request: two options:
    1) It’s a trope of early SG-1 slash that Daniel is locked in the closet (often by Jack), barefoot, and weeping. Write an intelligent, contemporary take on this trope. Something real, if not realistic, fresh if not new.
    2) Daniel assumed Jack knew he was transgender (FtM)--wouldn't something like that be in his file? Now that they've had a disastrous, mutually humiliating hook-up, can they put it behind them and have the relationship they both want--because the attraction isn't going anywhere.
    Restriction #1: character-bashing
    Restriction #2: too-perfect sex

Well, I've sort of done optional request 1 before: Possession.

So.

The second optional request. Hmmmmm. Strangely FTM Daniel started speaking to me. So.

Rating: NC-17
Summary: Daniel is out. Jack is not. And yet Daniel still has a secret.
Content/warnings: Trangender issues, with attempted treatment by a straight woman who has never had a transgender thought in her life. Hopefully, I pulled off something remotely real and readable.

I wanted to make a few notes related to my ficathon piece. (I'm on a difficult deadline, so early readers of this may note the lack of links.)

So! I have my J/D ficathon assignment, and this is what I get for trying to lure [personal profile] zats_clear into the fray.

"Only 1000 words" I said.

Though as she was not lured (at least, I don't think she was! I haven't checked the signup list in a couple of days!), I don't know why I'm getting punished for my behavior. *grumbles*

One of my optional prompts is for something much more serious than I would ever attempt and requires research, while the other prompt makes so little sense to me I am probably going to have to consult other people for their interpretations. I have already asked our Mel for her thoughts.

I should not complain. The required prompts are quite writable. But I like to do the whole package if I can, and if I fall back on the required prompts I got, well, there's no challenge there at all.

Wow. Was that whiney enough?

That said, research this morning was strangely productive. It's weird what a paralegal can bring to the research and writing process. I got a hit in my first Webcrawler page for exactly the thing I was looking for to resolve one of the problems.

Written for the 2008 J/D Ficathon.

I am writing for the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] lokei. She requested:

    Two (2) Requirements:
    1. first time
    2. Jack or Daniel reading aloud
Optional Request: I like early seasons better, AU's can be fun, happy endings (or at least hopeful ones) are the best. I please easily. *grin*
    Restriction #1: no mpreg
    Restriction #2: no non-con

[The last two restrictions actually being somewhat important since she got me as a writer! :) ]

[livejournal.com profile] lokei gave me a beautiful Jack with wings, so I was especially happy to be able to do something nice for her. [livejournal.com profile] lokei, I hope you like it!

Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] tejas, [livejournal.com profile] avidrosette, and [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl, who helped me with ideas about what Jack and Daniel might be reading to each other. You are all fantastic, and prizes must be written. Yes. They must.

And happy belated birthday to Daniel Jackson. Next year, the due date for the ficathon should be his birthday! :D

My ficathons are going to be so easy, it's not even funny! I already know what I'm remixing and have it started in my brain. I was TOTALLY cracking up AG33 in the car this morning describing sections to him. (That's gonna suck, too. No cookies. Must keep a secret. Wah.) I may actually remix a second piece, if I have time, which I should.

PLUS, my J/D ficathon assignment should work with an idea that came to me over the weekend and I have some really good ideas for THAT piece, too.

Not to mention that the vampire thing has been running amok.

I NEED some quality writing time. Seriously. But if I can get it, I imagine I'll be sitting impatiently on ficathon stuff for weeks before they are due.

This is my entry in the 2007 Jack/Daniel Ficathon, hosted by [livejournal.com profile] greensilver.

I received what appeared to me to be the lone crack!fic assignment. Envy me. Or pity me. It could go either way.

So, without further ado, [livejournal.com profile] kuonji14 requested:

    Two (2) Requirements: Unicorn(s). Telephone(s).

Optional Request: Anything goes! Surprise me. :) My original request was for 'Daniel as a prostitute'. If you can somehow still work that in, I will a) squeeeee b) laugh like a loon and c) give you cookies! :D

I have my feet back under me again, sort of, after the due date snafu.

I should have done this post on Sunday, but here it is, finally!

Not only did I remix, but I also was remixed.

[livejournal.com profile] rydra_wong did an absolutely amazing, fantastic, gorgeous, deep, wonderful remix of Pervasive Local Obsidian. You must rush and read it right now!!!!

Son of Endless Sky (The Bone Needle Remix)

This may be the reason I remix again one day. :D

Thoughts on remixing )

Anyway, so there's my remix experience, in a nutshell. I am actually pretty happy with how it came out, especially considering the RL time constraints I have been under. I should extend a special thank you to Little Sister, who kindly slept in the past several days, letting me get up at godawful early hours on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and today to write and edit. Another special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl, who's excellent edit and suggestions were the only reason I was able to post this morning, so quickly after realizing I had the deadline wrong.

Will I remix again? That remains to be seen. Remixing is hard work. But it was fun.
brainofck: (DanielJackson)
*rushes in, flailing papers*

Sorry! Sorry! I totally confused the deadline for this, and here I am, two days late. So, so sorry, [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic.

But here it is. My brazen attempt to crack the Eurydiceverse.

Title: like water, lying (The Event Horizon Remix)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] muck_a_luck, posting in [livejournal.com profile] brainofck
Pairing: Daniel Jackson/Jack O'Neill, Daniel Jackson/Cameron Mitchell, Daniel Jackson/Jack O'Neill/Cameron Mitchell
Rating: NC-17
Summary: A remix of [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic's fantastic like water, lying. As summarized by her: Jack comes back to Colorado for a visit and Cam thinks he's lost Daniel's attention for the week. Except he hasn't, not at all. And that's scarier. You should also consider this a remix of Jack, as Jack is presented in the evolving Eurydiceverse. He's not in quite the same place as [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic's Jack.
Content/warnings: None.

The Matrix: Teammates The Matrix is located here.
Author's note: Gateworld spells it Kelnorim, and capitalizes it, making it a proper noun, as the name of a ritual mediation practice.

I entered this project thinking I would write a stranded piece. But [livejournal.com profile] surrealphantast requested Sam/Jack/Daniel. First time. A developing relationship on Earth, not stranded off-world. And this got me thinking, what would it be like? How would it come about? So this is me, thinking about that. Though not exactly, because if the three of them did something while the team was still a team, I don't think Teal'c could stay out of it.

In The Jack/Daniel Ficathon, [livejournal.com profile] lerah99 requested as follows:

Requirements: Somehow Jack gets sold as a slave to Daniel. Daniel expects his new purchase to fulfill his duties even after they return home.

Optional Requests: Top!Daniel Feel free to make it porny.

Restrictions: No character death, Happy ending

The challenge here, as I see it, is threefold. First, to come up with a plausible way that Daniel might come to purchase Jack while offworld. Second, to come up with a plausible reason why Daniel would demand that they continue master/slave roles after returning home. And finally, to do the whole thing without being completely derivative of every other slave!fic I've ever read.

I like to think I have accomplished the first two goals. Unfortunately, I'm not completely convinced I've managed the third.

*shrugs*

We've got top!Daniel, bottom!Jack, and porn. I'll be derivative if it makes a few people happy.

Slavery on a Civilized Planet )

I think I'm going with [livejournal.com profile] demilo19's Owner's Manual.

It fits with the piece a little better than the overtly sexual ones, though I loved [livejournal.com profile] wyldestarr's suggestion of Tethers, and is a little more playful and pop than the more serious ones. Though I am sorely tempted by [livejournal.com profile] alpha_strike's suggestion of The Chattel Monitor. :D

And we are all frightened of [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl now. She had, like, TWENTY titles!

Hmmmm. But maybe I should use more than one.

And I cannot even begin to tell you how pissed Teal'c is about all of this.

Thoughts

Imagine a place were slavery was legal, well regulated, and widely accepted.

What would be the name of the pop culture magazine for people who like and keep slaves?

You know, like you go up to the newsstand and you see Sports Illustrated, Cooking Light, Men's Health, Cosmo, GQ and what? Bondage and You? Servitude? What?

I need a title, people.
brainofck: (Spell Check)
Got my assignment this morning.

Hmmmmmm. It has potential, in that it is the kind of hot porn goodness that appeals to me and I read droolingly.

On the other hand, it is so implausible, that this kind of story is one of my guiltier pleasures.

So the question is, do I write it straight-up like the requestor probably wanted, improbable as it is, or do I throw in a loop - I dunno - quantum mirror or drug induced insanity or dream sequence or what?

Well, it should be an interesting piece of cliche fic for [livejournal.com profile] green_grrl to possibly put on her list.

And interestingly, mine is not due until June 20, though I was sure the deadline was June 1. How confusing. But in a good way. I was a tad worried about making the June 1 deadline, what with the plans I have for this month and the fact that I would really like to be basically done with the gender!bender before the baby gets here.
